So Christmas has happened and we look forward to a New Year!
2023 probably wasn’t the best year of the century so far, and you’d think 2024 must be better; but 2023 did have the genuine merit of not including a global pandemic. We also managed the increasingly rare achievement of only having the one Prime Minister throughout it, so we’ve got that stability to be thankful for, and there was even a single from the Beatles!
For a few days over Christmas the river level dropped and the current was moderating. Sadly however Friday the current increased and the river is back to red board status – so the prospect of a sail on New Years Day is not good. In the unlikely event that conditions improve we will boat at 11.00 and there will be an informal race at 11.30.
The good news is that the POT LUCK LUNCH will take place whatever the weather and river conditions. The bar will be open from 12.30 and food – hearty soup, jacket potatoes with choice of fillings followed by Bodgit’s bread and butter pudding a la mode – will be available from 13:00, £4.00 payable on the day.
