Tramps and Trollops Dinner 2017
Mike Hendra

Helen and Don surpassed the advertising problems with their title and the menu for Saturday 16th September producing an evening of good food and fun. Although the turn out of tramps would hardly surprise many members, AQSC certainly has some presentable trollops. There were several ladies a discerning tramp might like to take home to mother bypassing father on the way. This of course assuming the tramp could afford the asking price. Joan Courtney and Roger Wheeler took the prizes for best trollop and tramp but the competition was fierce. Thank you for all those who made the effort.

Foodwise the soup was excellent, the sausages of the finest quality, the presentation very appetising and the deserts suppressed any chance of waistline preservation. For entertainment Don oversaw a beetle drive and quiz whilst the overfed assemble stuffed themselves with a variety of chocolates.

Turnout was a little disappointing due to a communication glitch with just less than twenty attendees but for those who did it was well worth the trouble. Helen and Don did an excellent job. As usual there were familiar faces in support with Gordon Courtney in his out-of-home role managing the dishes. Backing all this was the team who get the least credit, those who man the bar (no ladies are on the bar committee).  Roger chases around doing most of the buying and Peter Carpenter is almost always the face behind the bar at club events being both barman and barista. Not only does the barman serve drinks but gathers, washes and dries the glasses and restocks the fridge as well so thanks Pete and the bar committee.

With September’s event now history we look forward the October social and what else but “Oktoberfest” scheduled for the 14th October. This is an Hon Sec production and Jean is already busy with music and menus so diarise the date and practice your Deutsch.

Prost!
