On Sundays 23 and 30 December there will not be Race Officers or Patrol boat cover at the club.

On Wedneday 19 December there will be seasonal nibbles, hosted by Nigel Knowles, from 19:00. Do come and join us for a bit of Christmas cheer.

On Sunday 9 December the Cheats Christmas lunch is at 12:30; there will also be family games, details.

On Saturday 1 December at 7:30pm there is the important AGM, prize giving and End of Season Party; Notice of 2018 AGM, Minutes of 2017 AGM.

25 November should have a 10 mph NE wind and no current so sailing could be good; but a cold cloudy day. In future the activity will be dependent on conditions with sailing; fun racing and training taking priority. Short Races will be included in the Fun 2 series with 2 short races starting at 11:30 and another at 14:00 after which there will be the usual tea and cakes. The BBQ, burgers & rolls, and Pizzas should be available but it may be a DIY service.

18 November should be a glorius cool day with a 10mph East wind so sailing could be good. Sunday 4 November was the last scheduled sailing day on the programme but activities at the club on Sundays will continue.

Wednesday 31 October Halloween It’s that time of the year again! Our regular Wednesday evening in the AQSC bar from 19:30 will have a suitable theme. Drinks and free Nibbles plus if you have a Halloween costume stashed away, not worn in years, now’s the time. Get dressed up and come on down. Q. Why do demons and ghouls hang out together? A. Because demons are a ghouls best friend! Yes, it’s going to be that kind of night. See you there!

Sunday 28 October A reminder that the clocks go back and the last race starts soon after the 14:00 event finishes so there is more time to pack up in the light. Tea and cakes will be after the last race finishes.

On Saturday 27 October the last working party of the year will be at AQSC starting at 10:30 ‘ish. Nigel no doubt will have a list of jobs to be done and Diana will be organising coffee and a late lunch for the workers. Your turnout would be greatly appreciated. Nothing too strenuous but you are advised to wear old clothes and gloves.

As Sunday 2 September is the 1st Sunday of the month there is a newcomers talk at 13:30; Don Barnett will talk on "Seamanship" - knots, coming alongside, mooring up etc. Some ‘Little ships’ (Dunkirk) will be passing; please keep clear.

On Saturday 11 August there is a trip to the Sunbury Regatta Illuminated sail past and fireworks display preceded by a DIY BBQ from 18:00. Bring your own supper or buy burgers and buns, and cook it on the clubs BBQ. The patrol boats will leave the club at 20:15 for the cruise up to Sunbury and will return about 22:30. Book places by entering your name on the form near the bar or ring Richard on 01932 786636.

As 5 August is the 1st Sunday of the month there will be a newcomers talk at 13:30 by Darren Best;  “Basic 1st Aid" - including resuscitation drill and practice. It didn’t take place.

On Saturday 28 July there is our annual Hog Roast and buffet. This is definitely a not to be missed event but numbers will be limited so get your bookings in as soon as possible; must be by Saturday 21 July, members have priority until 14 July. A dry evening is assured as it takes place under our marquee.  Only £12 for entertainment, great food and a well-stocked bar, what more could you want; details and booking form.

Wednesday the 4th of July is American Independence Day so to commemorate we hope to launch a new craft at AQSC the "Lavery 1". Naturally the proud new Bosun owners will want to test their boat against the best Aquarius can throw at them so we are suggesting a new Bosun challenge the “Knee Jerk Cup” to be held Wednesday evening. The winner’s “Sparkling” prize has been donated by Graham so expect the best. We have three Bosuns available for the use of club members without boats and we are asking other bosun owners to come down and join the fray.

Wind SE to S 3 knots, light cloud cover with sunshine at 24º is currently forecast. The barbeque will be available for members to use and Patrol Boat cover should be available from 15:30.

Mike Hedra is on bar duty; Jean and Mike will be at the Club 16:30 ish so pack a picnic basket and come to down to celebrate.

As 1st July is the first Sunday in the month there is a Newcomers event at 13:30. Occasionally dinghies capsize, this is nothing to be concerned about but it is a big help if you have experience capsize recovery. Nigel Knowles will be demonstrating capsize recovery and if you haven’t experienced it you are recommended to join him. A 30° temperature is forecast. Don’t forget to bring spare clothes.

Wednesday 27 June there is a Mid Summer Cruise to The Weir Hotel for a pub supper. The plan is to sail or motor up through Sunbury Lock for a meal, returning around dusk to AQSC for a night cap. Members can travel by any means including canoes, row boats, dinghies, power boats or cars; boats leave at 18:00. Naturally the most fun is the mix of craft on the river and both our patrol boats, Aquarius and Tern, will be going. To book a place in them use the form in the bar or contact Richard Cannon (01932 786636). Note: Anyone planning to come by road should be aware that the Weir Hotel stops taking food orders at 9:00pm.

On Saturday 16 June & Sunday 17 June there is the Aquarius Regatta. This event is about everybody getting together for a fun weekend at The Club; details.

On Saturday there is no racing in the morning. There will be BBQ burgers lunch time from 12:30. There are 2 Regatta Trophy races in the afternoon

Newcomers are welcome to come and crew for experienced helms. It’s a great way to get introduced to racing and to learn what it’s all about. Even if you prefer cruising it would be great to have you join in. So why don’t you come down and get involved: details.

Creating the right atmosphere in the clubhouse is important and you can help with this by being friendly and engaging with our visitors (last Sunday we had over 50) by putting them at their ease.

On Sunday 6 May AQSC are exhibiting the Club Graduate at Chestnut Sunday in Bushy Park. This gives good publicity for our open weekend on 12-13 April and help is need to support our stand; the parade restricts car access.
