Archived Future Events 2019

On Wednesday 18 December there are free Seasonal nibbles at 19:30. At 18:30 there will be an open meeting to debate the future activities of the club during 2020.

On 8 December there is the Cheats Xmas Party; booking essential, details.

On Saturday 30 November at 7:30pm there is the important AGM, prize giving and End of Season Party; don’t miss this important event, Agenda and 2018 Minutes. The date of 1 December in the printed program was wrong.

Saturday 16 November The Annual Dinner in the Clubhouse 19.30 for 20.00. £30 per head. Professionally catered by "Hampton Hampers" Booking by 7 November essential. Menu.

Saturday 26 October there is a Work Party 10:30 – 16:30; Nigel provides a list of interior/exterior jobs that need addressing in and around the club and volunteers select and do what they can. A late lunch will be provided for the workers with tea and coffee on tap all day. All you need are some old clothes, gloves and gardening tools. Look forward to seeing you on the 26th; job list.

Monday 7 October The next committee meeting is at 19:30.

On Sunday 15 September there is a Little Ships (Dunkirk) Annual Veterans Cruise; there could be 20 boats going upstream in the morning, please keep well clear.

On Saturday 14 September at 19:30 there will be a Shakespearian Evening consisting of appropriate oratory, music, food and drink for only £8. Must be booked by Wednesday 4 September. Details and booking form.

Sunday 8 September Boat naming GEORGE at 14:00
Joan Bray and her family will be coming to Aquarius for the naming of our Graduate dinghy in memory of George Bray who unfortunately passed away last year; program. Every one is invited.

Sunday 1 Sepember is the first Sunday of the month so there will be a ‘Seamanship Presentation’ at 13:30; ‘knots, coming alongside, mooring up etc.’  by Don Barnett, followed by a novelty event at 14:00. Please come along.

Sunday 25 August is a bank holiday weekend with an excellent weather forecast. There isn’t any Series racing so it will be ideal for recent members to experience training all day from 11:30. The Picos will be available for youths and also the Vision, Lark, Bosun and Lasers. Members, especially youths, are encourage to bring their friends along to try sailing. We need experienced members to help.

On Saturday 10 August there is a visit to the Sunbury Regatta illuminated sail past and fireworks display, preceded by a DIY BBQ from 18:00. Bring your own supper or buy burgers and buns, and cook it on the clubs BBQ. The patrol boats will leave the club at 20:15 for the cruise up to Sunbury and will return about 22:30. Book places by entering your name on the form near the bar or ring Richard on 01932 786636.

On Sunday 4 August  as it is the first Sunday of the month there is a Newcomers event at 13:30;  a demonstration and talk on Basic 1st aid and resuscitation. Unfortunately Darren Best is unavailable but we we have a stand in for the event. Many roads will be closed for the Prudential RideLondon and accessing AQSC from South of the river will probably be difficult.

Monday 29 July The next committee meeting is at 19:30.

On Saturday 20 July there is our annual Hog Roast and buffet.
This is definitely a not to be missed event so get your bookings in as soon as possible; must be by Saturday 13 July. A dry evening is assured as it takes place under our marquee.  Only £12 for entertainment, great food and a well-stocked bar, what more could you want; details and booking form.

Wednesday 26 June there is a Mid Summer Cruise to The Weir Hotel for a pub supper. The plan is to sail or motor up through Sunbury Lock for a meal, returning around dusk to AQSC for a night cap; the bar will be closed until then. Members can travel by any means including canoes, row boats, dinghies, power boats or cars; boats leave at 18:00. Naturally the most fun is the mix of craft on the river and both our patrol boats, Aquarius and Tern, will be going. To book a place in them use the form in the bar or contact Richard Cannon (01932 786636). Note: Anyone planning to come by road should be aware that the Weir Hotel stops taking food orders at 9:00pm.

Monday 24 June The next committee meeting is at 19:30 at the club (NOT the 10 June).

On Saturday 15 June & Sunday 16 June there is the Aquarius Regatta. This event is about everybody getting together for a fun weekend at The Club; details.

A range of Open Days (18, 19, and 26 May) publicity posters are available in the clubhouse and we would ask all members to come and take some and display them in your area; more.

On Saturday 11 May there is a working party 10:30 - 16:00 with a free late lunch. Come along with gardening tools and clothes.  

On Saturday 27TH April there is Salzburg Serenade (7:00 for 7:30pm). We will be celebrating the food and music of the Salzkammergut with entertainment from Pat Halling. Including a 3 course Austrian inspired supper and a glass of Schnapps. All for £10. Pay on the night. Come in Alpine or similar costume if possible. On 21 April there is the Easter Egg Trophy races; details.

Saturday 23 March Start of Season Party at 19:30. Janet Edwards will talk about Great Yarmouth and also workhouses in the Sunbury area. Afterwards there will be a cold buffet and, of course, the bar will be open all evening. This event is a great way to meet other club members in a relaxed and engaging atmosphere. We hope this will be a great start to what promises to be an excellent season and we look forward to seeing you all.

On Friday 25 January there is a Burns Night Celebration, Haggis Tatties and Neeps from 19:30; note the date change from Saturday 26 so we could have our Piper; details.

On Tuesday 1 January 2019 there will be a New Years Day Sail from 11.00, Pot luck lunch 13:00 (jacket potatoes with fillings, fruit pie etc) and tea and cakes. Richard will be OOD; help will be needed with the patrol boat. It should be warm and dry with 8mph NW wind.
